Last week in ISM I made a huge step in the process towards finding a potential mentor. After contacting several doctors at Children's Medical Center in Dallas, I have scheduled my first informational interview. I will be speaking with Dr. Victor Aquino this Tuesday, September 19th. Throughout last week I learned how to create effective, open ended questions appropriate to ask in a professional job setting. With this knowledge I have composed my own list of 15 questions to ask during my informational interviews. I have also put together a rough draft of a professional resume I can use going into the future. In addition, last week I also learned what appropriate professional dress consists of. Having professional dress, a resume, and interview questions, allows me to present myself professionally during the interview process and beyond. Therefore for my upcoming, interview I will prepare by finalizing all of these aspects. During this upcoming week I will continue to reach out to doctors in the Dallas area in hopes of contacting and scheduling more informational interviews. This past week has been extremely productive and I am very excited to begin making actual steps towards finding and working with a mentor for the remained of the school year.
