Week of 12/4 - 12/8

The past week in ISM I scheduled informational interviews With Dr. An Pham, at Children's Medical Center, and Dr. Alexandra Callan at UT. Southwestern Medical Center. I look forward to the opportunity to interview them and learn about what surgical oncology has to offer as a career. In addition, I received my research showcase invitations that i will begin handing out, in hopes of have a large crowd for presentation night. I learned about the importance of having professional and nicely printed invitations, as it increases the professionalism of my project as a whole. I have also taken time to continue researching my my original work. I have had a difficult time figuring out the logistics of creating a website as my original work, although I am working through the challenges. I am looking forward to the experience I will gain this week through my interviews. With the conclusion of my informational interviews, I will begin the process of choosing and contacting one of the 5 doctors I have previously spoke with, to possibly be my mentor. I look forward to the experience a mentorship will bring to me. Hopefully by next semester I will have a mentor confirmed and will be able to begin having mentor visits.
