Over the past few weeks in ISM I have reached several huge milestones in my research, and mentorship process. I have worked very hard to complete my original work, which I will be presenting at the ISM research showcase next Wednesday. After all my researched and time spent producing my original work, I was able to create, and book and pamphlet that I am extremely proud of. The information included in my original work was relevant and helpful in helping to eliminate the problems that are faced by children and parents when initially given a diagnosis. After my project, I have concluded, that the confusion patients undergo can be bridged through communication and explanation. My product addresses these challenges successfully explains the concepts in an age appropriate, and simple way. In addition to the competition of my original work, I have confirmed a mentor for the remainder of the school year. I am extremely excited to begin working with Dr. Alexandra Callan to gain real world experience. I believe I can learn a lot for the work Dr. Callan does in the orthopedic oncology field, and I am excited for the opportunity to learn from a surgeon of her caliber.
